Denise Ritchie
Biography
Denise Ritchie has been a photographer since her teens. "From the first time I picked up a camera and pressed the shutter button, I was hooked."
Denise worked as a ski instructor during college, and had a successful career as a biochemist in New England. Throughout, Denise was constantly taking pictures, attending photography and art classes, and working with professional photographers to learn her craft.
Finally, in 2006, photography became a full-time profession and Ritchie Digital Studios opened for business. Denise's art work has hung in museums & galleries throughout Florida, and her commercial work has been published in local and national publications. Denise and her husband, Jim, are residents of Vero Beach, Florida.
Artist's Statement
"The compelling element of photography, for me, is the relationship between light and shape. Regardless of the subject being photographed, the angles, space, reflection and shadow are constantly in play with light. I want to be in the moment where these elements become the absolute most they can be. The mechanics of taking the photo dissolve, and I am hopefully left with visual grace."
